I have found large snook loitering in sandy potholes shadowing schools of baitfish in the shallows.  These snook are on grass flats outside of their wintering holes.  We have begun a transitional time of year when these fish will stage in areas with an abundant food source yet close enough for a quick retreat to protection as cold fronts start to approach.  Some of these locations will only hold fish for a few weeks or even just a few days depending on weather patterns.  Now is also the right time of year to target an inshore slam and oyster bars can be the place to get it done.  High tides will draw redfish to the bars with snook also patrolling the drop off edges.  Trout can generally be found in peripheral grassy areas and all three can sometimes be caught from the same anchor setting.  The presence of mullet is my best indicator if my desired species are also lingering in the area.
