The Tampa Bay Times

First off, I would like to say to I hope everyone stays safe and well. It is unfortunate for what everyone is having to go through. The tourism industry has really taken a hit since this is the time of year where most of us make our money. The one thing I know about fishing guides is that they are resilient. To all my counterparts, just try to hang in there and stay positive.

Fishing has been on fire and this little cold front will only help to keep it that way. It will help keep the water temperature in check.  The inshore and offshore bite is going off. Name the species you would like to target and more than likely it is being caught.

The snook bite is phenomenal in north and south Tampa Bay. The redfish bite is coming into full swing. Some nice schools of redfish are starting to get together throughout St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay. Fishing with greenbacks should do the job. Heavy chumming will get these fish to stick around. Just remember to be considerate of other boaters who may also be fishing.

Monster trout are also being caught in the Ft. Desoto area. These are some of the biggest trout I have seen in years. Some are weighing up to 6lbs. A greenback freelined with a slow retrieve has been the key to catching them.

Offshore you have your pick. Kingfish have been here for a month. Spanish mackerel, bonita, and blackfin tuna are eating the bottom out of the boat. This is all due to the influx of bait into our waters.
