The dead of summer:  July.    We have fish year-round, but it can be toughest in the month of July.   The more it rains, the better it should be.   A really good option in the toughest of summer conditions:  If you can find them, pompano are one of the best July targets there is.    Use a pompano jig with a teaser.     Choose the yellow pompano jig and a pink teaser.    Teasers with flash are best.   Pompano will be a main target for three to four more months.
Find areas that have deeper sand bottom, like the passes or the bridges.     Make sure that jig and teaser is on the bottom.   The size of your jig is a direct relation to how much current.   Lighter current, lighter jig.    Heavier current, heavier jig.    The act of jigging hooks the fish    The get on top of it while it is in contact with the bottom.    Natural baits like fiddler crabs, sand fleas and live shrimp will also catch pompano.
Pompano are a very good spirited fighting fish.   The are also among the best to take home to eat that there is.     In abundance:   They are not in any trouble, management wise.   Minimum size is eleven inches and each angler can keep six.
