The end of summer:  The best hot water fishing I have ever seen. The arrival of Fall, things should get even better. Speckled trout, closed to harvest, are easily the best species to target for easy action. Redfish and snook have a lot more left to undergo before things get back to “how they used to be.”   Routinely, we are catching 150 fish in a single trip. Strong action in the right spots, with species not being harvested, the fish remain in the population. Pressures on species, closures were a good test.    It demonstrated; closures should be considered for other species. It also has demonstrated; even when things reopen, anglers should consider more catch and release if you want better fishing action in the future. Using lures for inshore action, all you need if you develop the skills.   Move lures at a smooth, slow speed for best results.  The “jig” is a useful tool. But you can utilize topwater lures and pompano jigs for success. Proper technique, results will be excellent. The topwater lure tempts the biggest trout. The pompano jig and teaser catches pompano, silver trout, whiting and a variety of other species. The pompano jig and teaser are underutilized. Use all the tools and enjoy a wider variety of the action.  The next six to eight weeks is some of the best opportunity of the year.   Get out and enjoy it.
