This knot was shown to me by the late Merrill “The Canoeman” Chandler, as shown to him by Captain Mel Berman. It is essentially a “bowline”, which, as we all know, is the most versatile and strong loop knot one can tie. I have used this knot to catch everything from mini-Trout on 25 lb fluorocarbon leader, to my biggest fish ever – a 182 lb Tarpon on 80 lb monofilament leader material. It works, and is so ridiculously easy to tie, you’ll be amazed at yourself.

Thanks Mel and Merrill!
