With a warm ending to February look forward to things cutting lose in March. The first of the month is open for snook that are between 28 and 32 inches. It is one per angler, guide/captains catch is not counted in a bag limit and a angler must posses a snook permit for harvest . I’ve caught a few on the outside keys and inside passes with deep drop offs. Use a heavier leader up to 30lbs. to prevent being cut-off from their sharp gill plates. High outgoing tide seems to be the best bite.  The trout bite is still very shallow. Less than three feet has been best. Hard yellow bottom and limestone rocks on the incoming tide is the place to target. I fished the near shore rocks with limited success this past week but I would believe that soon to expect spanish mackerel, trout and flounder to be on them. After some down time the new Monkey Bar and Grill at the River Side Resort  in Old Homosassa is open. With the Monkey Bar and Grill comes the great view of the Homosassa River, Monkey Island, good food/drinks and times. Look for incoming tide this weekend in the morning.
