After a strong westerly blow like we had this weekend, expect the fish to be scattered around the backcountry keys. The 3 feet above normal high tide put water in resident yards and business on the Homosassa River and places north. When this happens redfish are your most dependable fish to catch because they will hunker down on the keys and ride it out, some will travel deeper into the backcountry. This being said fishing during a hard blow the keys the redfish stay on also give a wind break to the angler. This time of year the winds will be west or north west so having water to fish is not the problem. Using a cork and shrimp free lined down the edge of the rocky side of the key is the best way to get a bite. If the pinfish keep picking you clean switch to a piece of cut pinfish. I keep a pack of 1 hooks just for catching them next to my vessel.

The inshore water is very cloudy and trout fishing has been tuff. As we move into this weekend hopefully the water will clear and my instincts tell me to move out to 8 feet to catch some trout. High incoming tide will be in the afternoon this weekend with the full moon.
