When you love what you do for a living, is it really work?  Throughout his minor league umpiring career, Neil Taylor, has always shown a passion for fishing.  After having spent nine years bouncing around from town to town, Neil received the phone call almost every minor league umpire receives.  Thanks for all you’ve done for us, but we’ve decided to let you go.  What does one do after baseball?  This is a question thrown upon many individuals, the answers quite diverse.  For Neil Taylor, he founded Strike Three Kayak Fishing in Tampa, FL.  Neil is considered a leader in the region for angling and is a trusted advisor for numerous media publications and programs.  Neil is also the owner of www.capmel.com which is a global resource for anglers offering advice on all things that pertain to fishing.

When asked the question, ‘What has umpiring done for you to help you with your business and life in general?’ Neil responded, “The baseball life and umpiring have provided me with skills to make life easier. Making decisions without second guessing and facing any kindhttp://www.strikethreekayakfishing.com/

of pressure situation, are lifelong skills learned on the field as well as realizing that people being upset with you does not mean you are wrong. Being part of a small fraternity of dedicated people, trying to achieve the same narrow goal was the most enjoyable experience of my life.”

I’m never surprised when I see lessons learned on the field/court applicable to scenarios in life or business.  It is definitely a training ground that can help anyone become a better person.
