Numerous weather conditions can, naturally, correct bad effects from Red Tide. This recent session of rainy days brings good news. Water temperatures are slowly dropping from the 90-degree mark. The algae bloom thrives on warmer water temperatures; cooler slows down its growth. Tropical weather can also break apart Red Tide. The strong wind rotation from a low-pressure system disperses concentrations of the bloom in all directions. Eventually, cool fronts will help fight Red Tide. Strong north winds usher in cooler air, dropping water temperatures. It’s amazing how Mother Nature can correct problems that occur in our gulf.
