Recreational anglers heading offshore can keep red snapper starting June 11 thru July 12. There may be another short season later in the year if there is any recreational quota left. 50 foot is the starting depth and most snappers have been caught on live pinfish or sardines. Circle hooks are required when reef fishing and a dehooking device.  Back inshore the trout bite picked up from the rain cooled water. If it is a breezy day use a popping cork with a MirrOlure LiL’ John in  bourbon on a 1/8th oz. jighead. There are still pockets of rock grass around creek mouth and deeper bays that are holding fish shallow. Red fishing on high incoming tide has been good and I’ve been using pinfish north of the Homosassa River and shrimp under a cork on the south side of the river. Incoming high tide this weekend will be in the morning.
