After a slow week of trout fishing I started looking further east and found some fish. The trout I’m catching are mostly male fish so there are between 15 and 18 inches. These qualify as good eating size. The water depth is around 3 feet and open bays are the best areas. MirrOlure watermelon redflake Provokers have worked well for me on a 1/8th oz. red jighead. Incoming or outgoing tide is good as long as the water is moving.  Redfishing on the first part of the incoming tide is good if your fishing big tall mangrove keys, I have found that once the tide reaches a certain point the fish will move inside the mangroves making it harder to reach them. If the tide is up then try further east where the mangroves are thick around the edges like a fence that will keep the reds right at the edge. Pinfish has been the best bait. High incoming tide will be late afternoon this weekend.
