Use adverse weather conditions to your advantage.  There are numerous places around Tampa Bay where you can safely hide out of the wind.  Use these times to explore new areas that you are not familiar with.  Consider the knowledge that you currently have about structure, tides, etc., and search for areas with similar scenarios.  Be very observant of your surroundings.  There are very subtle clues that can lead to success. Wading birds, cruising sting rays, jumping mullet, and even the presence of small sharks are all signs of productive areas.  Thoroughly search these areas to locate slight depressions in the bottom or hidden oyster bars. Simple things like a small cut through the mangroves could have increased current flow and help attract fish.  Use any opportunity to scout and learn new things.  Always remember that not finding fish is sometimes just as important as finding fish because now you know where to avoid and not waste time in the future. On another note, a recent outing intending to target ladyfish for use as tarpon bait yielded an abundance of trout across several grass flats.  This came as welcome news as the heat of summer is not typically known for it’s good trout fishing.  We cast soft plastic jigs while drifting.
