Cooking Sequence

– Put water on to boil for pasta
– Begin to cook pasta; prepare crab cakes – 30 minutes
– Complete both and serve – 15 minutes

 Kung Pao Crab Cakes

Ingredients

1/3 cup fresh chives, finely chopped
1 (3.5-oz) bag crispy onions, finely crushed, divided
3/4 lb crabmeat stuffing
3 tablespoons canola oil
1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons hot and spicy mayonnaise

Prep

– Chop chives; crush onions.

Steps

1. Combine stuffing, chives, and 1/2 cup of the onions; form into 8 patties. Coat both sides of patties with remaining 1 cup onions.
2. Preheat large sauté pan on medium 2-3 minutes. Place oil in pan, then add 4 patties; cook 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden and hot (165°F). Drain on paper towels; cover to keep warm. Repeat with other 4 patties.
3. Combine chili sauce, soy sauce, and spicy mayonnaise until blended. Serve with crab cakes.

 Scallion Noodles

Ingredients

8 oz fettuccini pasta
1 cup matchstick carrots
3/4 cup pre-sliced green onions
1/2 cup Deli light herb/garlic spreadable cheese
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Prep

– Bring water to boil for pasta.

Steps

1. Cook pasta following package instructions. Stir carrots into pasta during last minute of cook time. Drain.
2. Combine in medium bowl, soy sauce and cheese until smooth; fold in remaining ingredients. Serve.

Aprons Advice

– Complete your meal with fresh salad blend, whole wheat bread, and cheesecake topped with fruit for dessert.
– Add 2 cups broccoli slaw into the noodle recipe and chill for a great cold pasta salad.
