First thing I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope

you eat more than you should and have the best afternoon nap ever! For

the anglers who will not go on a Black Friday shopping blitz and need

to entertain family and guest who are not into shopping either this is

the scoop. The incoming tide will be mid morning so find a good local

place to have breakfast. Then head out and work the near shore bays

for trout or if you would like redfish work the edges of the outside

keys.

For redfish on the outside keys use a live shrimp under a cork that

is free lined right down the edge of the mangroves with the moving

incoming tide. If there are jumping mullet, that’s all the better. I

like to fish for the reds on the last hour of the incoming water. If

there are no shrimp, live pinfish and cut mullet are good baits to.

If action is better for your guest then go for trout. Use a popping

cork with a glow or red flake soft plastic from MirrOlure or D.O.A. I

tie my jigs about 20 to 24 inches under the cork. Cast the bait down

wind and work it with a pop, pop, pause. Most of the strike will be on

the pause. After catching enough trout for some dinner then head back

to the dock clean them and have a local restaurant cook them up for

you. Your family and friends will always remember this day. Stay safe

and have a good time.
